THE BE DEVICE WISE & LOCAL AUTHORITY CONFERENCE

A conference is an effective way of educating and training large numbers of schools across the authority on the issues surrounding device use harms and how to manage these within the school. As part of the conference, all attendees will be trained on how to deliver the Be Device Wise programme in their schools and will leave as accredited providers of this programme, able to deliver it in their schools.

THE STRUCTURE OF THE DAY WILL INVOLVE

9:30: Registration and welcome

10:00: Introduction to be device wise and the current research supporting the need for device reduction amongst teenagers.

11:00: Break

11:15: Delivery of the ‘parent presentation’ (primary schools) or the ‘teacher presentation’ (secondary schools). Schools can take this presentation away and present to parents.

12:15: Lunch

13:15: Training on delivering the be device wise programme in school – part 1

14:45: Break

15:00: Training on delivering the be device wise programme in school – part 2

16:30: End

Following the conference, we encourage schools within the council to maintain the support of the community. This can be facilitated by the council and also through attending the ongoing bi-monthly support session.
