Be Device Wise specialise in educating schools across the world on managing the risks associated with the online world and device use.
Dr Charlotte Armitage, founder & managing director is a renowned psychologist and psychotherapist who specialises in the impact of devices and the online world on child development. She is the author of ‘Generation Zombie: Why devices are harming our children and what we can do about it.’
Following recent changes to the DfE Statutory Guidance for Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) which includes the expectation for schools to educate about healthy device use behaviours and the growing dangers of the online world, Be Device Wise are launching a learning and resource platform to equip educators with knowledge and resources to meet the new guidelines.
The world of AI, devices and online risk is evolving at a rapid pace and changing day by day. This makes it challenging for any book or one off learning resource to remain relevant in an constantly moving landscape. The online learning platform at Be Device Wise will ensure that educators have access to learning resources that tackle the most up to date issues each month, we will address and educate on challenegs as they arise to ensure that teachers and educators are aware of issues that are presenting, as children as living through it.

Every month a new learning resource will be developed and added to the platform. These resources will be developed based on newly published scientific research and current issues impacting children. Resources will include lesson plans, video resources for pupils, scientific papers and training resources for teachers on issues such as managing loneliness and isolation, critically evaluating online content, how devices impact general health & wellbeing, having healthy relationships online and in real life, misogyny, incel culture, misandry, managing device use behaviours and more. Schools can submit requests for specific resources too.

Access to this platform is charged at £20 per month. This can be paid monthly or annually.

“The Be Device Wise lesson plans are a fantastic addition to a school’s PSHE curriculum. They’re clear, easy to use, and not at all overburdensome for busy teachers. The messaging around reducing device use is simple but powerful, with real-life case studies that help pupils understand the impact of screens on wellbeing, relationships, sleep, and concentration. They’re perfect for supporting ‘Disconnect to Reconnect’ weeks or embedding into Health Education lessons as part of a broader digital wellbeing focus. A valuable, ready-to-use resource for any school.”
